Step 1: Consultation
First, you’ll need to schedule a consultation with our cosmetic dentist in Lebanon, IN. Dr. Lee will examine your teeth, gums, and any X-rays we take during your appointment. With this information, he’ll be able to determine if you’re a candidate for the veneers procedure.
In general, you may be a if you have small chips, cracks, gaps, or stains affecting the front teeth in the “smile zone.” These are the teeth that are most noticeable when you eat, talk, smile, and laugh.
Keep in mind that you won’t be a candidate for the veneers procedure if you have structural damage to your tooth. For example, Dr. Lee may recommend a dental crown if your tooth has a large crack or cavity.
Step 2: Teeth Preparation
Our Lebanon cosmetic dentist will need to remove a thin layer of enamel from the fronts of your teeth. That way, there’ll be enough space for the veneers to sit on top. Many people don’t require local anesthetic for this step, but please let our dentist know if you experience any discomfort as each patient is different.
Next, Dr. Lee will take impressions of your teeth to send to the dental lab that will be making your porcelain veneers. Once your impressions are complete, he’ll place temporary veneers over your teeth to protect them until your next appointment.
Step 3: Veneers Placement
When you return for your second visit, your permanent dental veneers from the lab will be ready. Dr. Lee will remove your temporary veneers and place the permanent ones over your teeth to ensure they’re the correct size, shape, and shade to blend in with the rest of your smile. Dr. Lee may also make small adjustments to your to ensure they look and feel natural.
Next, our cosmetic dentist will prep the front surfaces of the receiving teeth so they’re ready to form a strong bond with the new veneers. This involves cleaning, etching, and polishing the fronts of your teeth. For the final steps, Dr. Lee will bond your veneers in place, remove any excess cement, and check your bite.
